Position: INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST I – 2 POSITIONS (Grant Funded)
Location: Troop 0, Crimes Against Children Unit/Digital Forensic Unit
1 Position – Morgantown
1 Position - Huntington
Pay Grade: 17 (35,028 – 64,812)
Description: Under direct supervision, performs entry level technical work in installing, implementing, maintaining computers and software that have multiple applications. May specialize in an area of technical expertise, such as networking technologies, data communications, hardware support, software support, training or information technology, forensic examinations, and conducting investigations.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Substitution: Three years of full-time or equivalent part time paid personal computer or server support experience may be substituted for the required training. Successful completion of twelve credit hours or the equivalent thereof of industry recognized authorized/certified LAN administration, network service/support and/or network technologies training may substitute for one year of the required training. Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in information processing, one year of which includes personal computer support and/or training. Substitution: Twelve hours of computer science or data processing may substitute for one year of information processing experience excluding personal computer support.
Position: POLICE TELECOMMUNICATOR
Location: Troop 5, Logan
Pay Grade: 7 (20,472 – 37,884)
Description: Receives, responds, transmits, answers, and/or verifies messages and/or inquiries received over communication equipment. Operates all applicable radio equipment/computer terminal/telephone equipment, dispatches/receives radio/computer data/telephone communications. Ability to type accurately at a rate of 25 w.p.m. Shift work required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent. Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in public contact work. Substitution: College hours, related business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.
Position: ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN IV
Location: Troop 0, Accounting Section
Pay Grade: 9 (22,584 – 41,784)
Description: Under general supervision, performs advanced accounting support duties. The incumbent is responsible for the posting complex journal entries that require the use of specialized accounting procedures, assisting the supervisor in preparing agency budgets, and examining records to assure adherence to accounting laws and regulations. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent. Experience: Four years of full time or equivalent part time paid bookkeeping , accounting , or related experience. Substitution: Successful completion of college-level accounting courses from an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of three semester hours equals six months experience; or Successful completion of related business school or vocational training may be substituted for the experience through an established formula.
Position: EVIDENCE TECHNICIAN I
Location: Troop O, Forensic Lab, Biochemistry
Pay Grade: 11 (24,912 – 46,092)
Description: Processes evidence and property; i. e. intake, security, storage, chain of custody. Receives, examines and/or evaluates (by ensuring appropriate packaging for specific evidence), organizes, and inventories, screens evidence for its potential probative value and for compliance with established laboratory standards. Collects, identifies and preserves evidence. Performs under general supervision basic evidentiary examinations. Prepares various records, forms and receipts; i. e., property receipts, loan forms, release forms, transfer forms. Maintains files of all receipts and documents processed; performs archiving of outdated cases. Provides courtroom testimony as necessary. Assists analysts in the Biochemistry Section.
Minimum Qualifications: Training and/or Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field OR Four years of full-time paid experience as a certified law enforcement officer OR Completion of two years (60 semester hours) of study in an accredited four-year college or university and two years of experience in work related to the Examples of Work as described in the job spec or to duties as described below OR A high school diploma, or its equivalent, and four years of experience in work related to the Examples of Work in the job spec or to duties as described below.
Related work experience for the position would include but is not limited to the following examples: experience with computerized information management systems; reviewing receipts or similar materials for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with standardized guidelines; entering routine to complex data into and searching data contained in electronic information management systems; receiving, storing, and dispensing of materials for the purposes of inventory control; reconciling and documenting physical inventories; and screening mail, composing letters, and troubleshooting customer inquiries or complaints.
Candidates possessing a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, or forensic science along with undergraduate/graduate courses in genetics, biochemistry, and/or molecular biology are preferred.

Position: ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN II
Location: Troop 0, Communications, Beckley
Pay Grade: 11 (24,912 – 46,092)
Description: Under general supervision, performs full-performance level electronic and telecommunications work. Duties include performing electronic and telecommunications work necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic radio equipment, inspecting two-way base and mobile radio stations and communication towers using diagnostic devices, installing and erecting new or repaired two-way base and mobile radio stations, determining priorities of repairs and emergencies when notified, testing and repairing malfunctioning mobile radios and transceivers, maintaining inventory, records, etc. This classification is distinguished from the Electronics Technician I classification by the general supervision received
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent. Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in electronics repair or land mobile radio/microwave equipment repair. Substitution: Successful completion of an approved vocational school program in electronics of at least 1080 clock hours or an Associate Degree in Electronics or Electronics Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Position: MECHANIC II
Location: Troop 2, Charles Town
Pay Grade: 7 (20,472 – 37,884)
Description: Under general supervision performs full performance level work in the maintenance, lubrication, repair and overhaul of light equipment, automobiles, trucks and other motor driven equipment. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: No formal education required. Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in service/mechanical work on automobiles or motor driven equipment. Substitution: Successful completion of an approved vocational school program in automotive mechanics of at least 1080 clock hours may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Special Requirement: A valid West Virginia Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is required.
Position: OFFICE ASSISTANT II (4 POSITIONS)
Location: Troop O, Criminal Records Section
Pay Grade: 5 (18,552 – 34,332)
Description: Performs full- performance level work in multiple-step clerical tasks calling for interpretation
and application of office procedures, rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent. Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in routine office work. Substitution: College hours, related business school, or vocational training may be substituted through an established formula for the required experience.
Position: POLICE TELECOMMUNICATOR

Position: TAILOR
Location: Troop 0, Procurement
Pay Grade: 4 (17,664 – 32,688)
Description: Under general supervision, performs advanced level detailed work in the sewing, mending, altering, and tailor-fitting of uniforms and other fabric items. Has considerable latitude to determine methods and procedures used to produce usable items. Completes appropriate paperwork. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience sewing or mending fabric articles.
